Bob Dylan honored with his own museum

Music icon Bob Dylan (80) is now honored with his own museum. In addition to a permanent exhibition on the life and work of the musician, there will also be temporary exhibitions.

Stars like Elvis Costello, Patti Smith and Mavis Staples had previously celebrated the opening planned for Tuesday with concerts over the weekend. Dylan himself approved the museum, but according to the operators, was only slightly involved personally.

For the museum, an old industrial building was converted for around 10 million dollars (about 9.5 million euros) – in the immediate vicinity of a museum in honor of the musician Woody Guthrie, who died in 1967. Guthrie was one of Dylan’s role models, who became world famous with songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and is considered one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century.
