Vaccination skepticism is greatest among FP voters

This emerges from the Austria trend created for APA and ATV by Peter Hajek, who interviewed 800 people over the age of 16 online and over the phone. Hajek emphasized that in order to achieve a vaccination rate of 80 percent – the goal set, not least because of the delta variant – the campaign must be continued with undiminished vigor.

When comparing with previous trends in Austria, it can be seen that the willingness to vaccinate has increased continuously, but not to a sufficient extent. In April, 52 percent had a safe vaccination or had already done so. Now this value is 66 percent. Conversely, 15 percent of those questioned still “definitely not” want to be vaccinated, and a total of 21 percent consider participation unlikely. Nine percent superior.

High willingness to vaccinate among SP and Green voters

Unsurprisingly, vaccination skepticism is still the greatest among FP voters. With them, only a third of the sympathizers safely get vaccinated or have already done so. 55 percent, on the other hand, consider it very unlikely to be vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2, although the majority categorically excludes this at all. The willingness to vaccinate is highest among SP and Green voters, followed by VP and NEOS sympathizers.

The respondents were even more skeptical when it comes to vaccinating children. 25 percent of those interviewed with children under 18 in the household have their offspring safely vaccinated, 50 percent consider this to be unlikely. The smaller the children, the less willing they are to be vaccinated. Infants up to five want to be vaccinated only 16 percent, in six to eleven year olds 24 percent and in twelve to 18 year olds there are 36 percent vaccinated.

Worries about Delta variant

Incidentally, 36 percent of the population have concerns about the delta variant, but only six percent of the larger ones. 28 percent tend not to worry about the mutant that is currently widespread in Europe, 32 percent not at all. Incidentally, 66 percent of the FP voters believe that the variant will not cause any problems. Conversely, more than half of the Green voters (51 percent) expect problems with the Delta variant, which first appeared in India. For SP sympathizers, exactly 50 percent are concerned, for VP voters 40 percent and for NEOS supporters 35 percent.
