In January 2021, Donald Trump was banned from Twitter. Elon Musk wants ban reversed after potential takeover
Could Donald Trump (75) return to Twitter soon? If it were up to Elon Musk (50), then yes. Musk wants to buy the short message service for 44 billion US dollars. At the “Future of the Car” conference of the “Financial Times”, the entrepreneur spoke publicly for the first time about the takeover and the Twitter exclusion of the former US President. Musk called Trump’s ban a “mistake”. “I think it wasn’t right to ban Trump. I think it was a mistake. I would reverse the permanent ban,” announced the 50-year-old.
Donald Trump was permanently banned from the short message service in early 2021. Other social media services such as Facebook followed suit and blocked the accounts of the then President. Trump was accused of having contributed to the violent storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021 with apparently inciting short messages. A lawsuit by the 75-year-old against Twitter was recently dismissed in a San Francisco court. He now runs his own social media platform, Truth Social.
Musk: Trump’s Twitter ban is “totally stupid”
“Baning Trump from Twitter hasn’t silenced his voice, it will amplify it among the right and that’s why it’s morally wrong and totally stupid,” Musk said at the conference, according to the report. Twitter has not yet commented on Musk’s plans.
