More than a year after he left office, new details about Donald Trump’s presidency continue to emerge. The latest revelation: Trump was obsessed with the idea of China attacking the US with hurricanes.
Whether it’s wind turbines that supposedly cause cancer, complaints about insufficiently powerful toilet flushes or the obsession with buying Greenland: Donald Trump repeatedly surprised people with bizarre public statements during his presidency. And even behind closed doors, the ex-president regularly upset his employees. Now it has become known that he suspected nothing else behind a particularly difficult storm season than an attack on the USA.
This emerges from a report by “Rolling Stone”. Accordingly, three former government employees have confirmed that Trump has repeatedly expressed the suspicion for months that the competitor China is behind hurricanes that devastated the coasts of the United States. Shortly after taking office, he had therefore expressed the suspicion that China could attack the United States with secret technology.

“I didn’t get the impression that he was joking,” explained one of the newspaper’s staff. “It was almost too stupid to put into words.” Shortly after taking office, the president began to ask whether China might have the relevant technology. And – if that were the case – whether the US could retaliate with military means. Trump is said to have raised the issue with both his team and national security experts.
“I was there once when he asked if China was ‘making’ the hurricanes to send to us,” one staffer recalled. “He wanted to know if such technology existed. One of those present replied, ‘Not to my knowledge, sir.’ I managed to pull myself together until I was alone in my office again.” The president is said to have repeated his theory so many times that it became a household word in government circles as “that hurricane gun thing.”
According to the report, it was only in his second year in office that Trump asked less often about the alleged storm attacks. And even made jokes about it from time to time. Before that, however, he already had his own idea of how to fight the storms: As early as 2019, “Axios” reported that Trump proposed rendering them harmless with atomic bombs.
