Elizabeth Olsen revealed feeling frustrated by the movies she turned down because she was under contract to Marvel

“It took me away from being physically able to do certain jobs that I thought were more aligned with the things that I enjoyed as an audience member,” Olsen said. “And this is me being the most honest.”

One of the movies Olsen was upset about losing due to her commitment to Marvel was “The Lobsters” from Yorgos Lanthimos, which won the Jury Prize at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar for Original Screenplay. Olsen said at the Deauville American Film Festival in 2015 that losing “The Lobsters” was a “heartbreak”, adding: “I had a contract [para Marvel] that I couldn’t get out of. So that didn’t work.”

“I started to get frustrated,” Olsen told the Times of losing interesting roles due to her contract. “I had this job security but I was losing these pieces that I felt were more of a part of me. And the further away I got from that, the less I was considered for it.”

However, Olsen has been more comfortable in the MCU, particularly due to her starring role in “Wanda Vision”. The actress is currently the co-star of “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, which opened at the box office with a worldwide gross that has already reached 500 million dollars. Olsen said that she has come to love the character so much that she would be open to a standalone Scarlet Witch movie.

“I think I would,” Olsen said. “But it really has to be a good story. I think these movies are better when it’s not about creating content, but about having a very strong point of view, not because you need to have a three-movie plan.”
