Ward was a native of San Diego, United States who began his professional career with small roles on television in the 1970s before making a strong impression in his successful film. “Southern Comfort”directed by Walter Hill and released in 1981. Two years later, he would play astronaut Gus Grissom in the hit movie “The Right Stuff”.
Prominent roles would soon follow, including in such films as “Silkwood”, “Swing Shift”, “Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins”, “Tremors”, “Henry & June”the movies of Robert Altman “The Player” Y “Short Cuts The Dark Wind” from Errol Morris Y “Thunderheart” from Michael Apped. He starred in and executive produced the film “Miami Blues” 1990, directed by George Armitage and co-starring alec baldwin Y Jennifer Jason Leigh. It was part of “The Naked Gun 33: The Final Insult” as the villainous Rocco Dillon.
On television, he starred in the miniseries “Invasion Earth” and “Dice,” and guest-starred on “Grey’s Anatomy,” “ER,” “United States of Tara,” “Leverage,” “True Detective,” and others.
