Uschi Glas appreciates the consistency of the Oberammergau Passion Play. “I’m glad that the tradition is preserved,” said the actress on Saturday at the premiere.

The Munich native alluded to the costumes, which were designed simply and based on historical specifications. “I’m not a fan of suddenly doing it in jeans.”

The 78-year-old used to be at the Passion Play. Following a plague vow from 1633, the residents of Oberammergau perform their play about the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ every ten years. “It’s the most touching story of all time,” says Glas. You can draw strength and hope for better times. Around 2100 residents take part in the games – almost half the village.
