“Trieb” is the name of the dazzling silver disc, it was produced by the meritorious Mollner label ATS Records.
Variety and flexibility are Katrin Weber’s trademarks. The performance reveals settings of poems by Rose Auslander, Else Lasker-Schüler, Dorothy Parker, but also Friedrich Hölderlin – very touching the favorite poem of her father, who died in March. There are also Weber’s versions of well-known songs: “The Way We Were” by Marvin Hamlisch, Barbra Streisand made it a world hit, a German version of Cohen’s “I’m Your Man”, a duet with Christoph Wagner-Trenkwitz or a very funny version of the Peggy Lee hit “I’m a Woman”, with cabaret artist Magda Leeb.
Illustrious crowd of guests
Weber has an exquisite jazz quintet and an illustrious group of guests at his disposal. The aforementioned are joined by the Spring String Quartet, producer and guitarist Michi Ruzitschka and Brazilian vocalist Thamires Tannous. With the two of them, Weber convincingly advances into Latin American realms. (haun)
