It is a premiere for works by Günter Brus (*1938) at the Galerie Schloss Parz in Grieskirchen. And while the former Viennese actionist has seeped into the collective memory more as a wild dog handling his body and excrement, his graphic and pictorial work shines in the form of 20 works in the exhibition that opened on Thursday.

It’s mental juggling of sentence fragments and fragments of wordplay with oil chalk, colored pencils and pencils. Günter Brus (7000 to 130,000 euros) is accompanied by positions by the painter Suzanne Levesque (240 to 22,000 euros) and the Lienz sculptor Peter Niedertscheider (1200 to 5900 euros), which also deal with bodies and transience. The Hrdlicka student chisels or mills casual and ephemeral things like holiday memories in the style of great masters in eternal Carrara marble. It is worth tracking down engraved scenes in all of his works.

Levesque seeks out physical extremes and looks from battered people. This is also reflected in the material, as she cuts up canvas and sews it up again. In the castle pond, the installation “Irk & Tumble” floats over a woman battered by life, who seems to be looking for death.
