Evanescence singer Amy Lee caused quite a stir in the music world in the early 2000s. Because she was almost the only woman who had success as the lead singer of a mainstream rock band. The band’s debut album was released in March 2003 and hit like a bomb, “Fallen” was awarded a Grammy twice. The album peaked at #3 on the US album charts. “Bring Me To Life,” one of the band’s biggest hits, has been viewed more than a billion times on YouTube. Lee is not a product of the music industry, but Lee has faced many prejudices in the music world. Today, in her social media posts Amy Lee has largely said goodbye to her gothic look, she does without dark make-up and is much more natural. Ever since she founded her band “Evanescence” at the age of 13, the gothic look has been something of her trademark. Evanescence’s fifth studio album, The Bitter Truth, was released on March 26, 2021, again to critical acclaim. Since 2005, Amy Lee has been the national spokesperson for the US Epilepsy Foundation. After the death of her brother who was afflicted by the illness, Amy formed Out of the Shadows. Her goal is to educate people about epilepsy.
