“Singing is fun, singing is good, yes, singing makes you lively and singing encourages you.”
They came on foot, they came by bike or from all over the state by car. Around 300 singers were present yesterday at the first station of “Singen mit Blick”, a joint campaign by OÖ Nachrichten and the Upper Austria Choir Association on Hollerberg, in the municipality of Auberg in the Mühlviertel. Between the old elementary school and the newly renovated church, we happily sang together in glorious weather.
The numerous singers were greatly motivated under the low-threshold guidance of “Vorsingerin” Marina Schacherl. With humor, verve and professional singing, the deputy state choir director, together with her guitar-playing husband Roman (the two celebrated their first wedding anniversary yesterday), had the reins firmly in their hands. Anyone who is encouraged to sing along with “don’t sing so loud, don’t blare so pathetically” with a wink will quickly find fun in group singing in the great outdoors. The song book printed especially for the campaign in the OÖN edition by Trauner was distributed – free of charge.

The sociable afternoon started with the folk song “Grüaß enk alle mitanand”, and the ice was broken at the latest with the canon “Viva la musica” that followed. The choir director helped with “Singing is fun” with the friendly request “and now everyone sings like this that I’ll buy the text from you too”, after.
“Nu amoi” was heard from a singer after the emotionally “unique” Seer hit “Wilds Wasser”. A request that Marina Schacherl, after a good one and a half hours with catchy vocal literature from folk music, pop and Carinthian folk songs, was happy to comply with at the very end. The guests were entertained with regional organic food by Christa and Stefan Hofer and many helpers. The finale was a short concert by the “Vocamus” choir.
