The “Long Night of the Stages” in Linz had to wait two years for its tenth birthday. First of all, this particularly increased the hunger for culture among those involved. More than 80 artists and ensembles from the independent scene have registered – for the exhibition of local artists, as organizer Alfred Rauch calls the night that turns the state capital into a big stage on June 11th.
The focal point is again the theater on the Linz Promenade, where from 3 p.m. wristbands for the 122 events on 43 stages in 27 venues can be purchased for twelve euros. At 7 p.m. there will be excerpts from the various genres in the theater, in the music theater two whole performances of the musicals “Piaf” and “GRIMM” will be offered at half price (tickets for this in the music theater).
From 6:30 p.m., various ensembles in the Lentos Art Museum offer a spectacular dance focus, while the Ars Electronica Center is used by the Stelzhamerbund (poetry slam) and the Urban Dance Late Night Battle, among others. For young audiences, the Long Night begins at 2.30 p.m. in the Kuddelmuddel children’s cultural center, in the Children’s Theater and at the Bruckner University.
While the artists and the audience (around 12,000 people are expected) are looking forward to the event, Alfred Rauch’s budget is quite demanding. The budget for the premiere of the Long Night in 2010 was 120,000 euros; this year only 53,000 euros are available. “That makes it difficult to pay the artists halfway fair expense allowances,” says Rauch.
“The Long Night of the Stages” in Linz on June 11 from 2:30 p.m.; Wristbands (12 euros) entitle you to entry to all events and free travel on public transport (children and young people up to the age of 16 have free admission, but wristbands are still required for public transport).
