Hütter will remain rector of the Linz Art University until 2027

As the University of Art and Design Linz announced on Wednesday, Hütter will be in charge until 2027. That was decided by the Senate and the University Council. With her team, she initiated a new strategic orientation and also implemented the performance agreement. She recently achieved the highest financial increase among domestic art universities.

Born in the Innviertler region, she has been in office since 2019. She sees the decision as a “vote for the path we have taken together and the development of the art university”. Now she is putting her proven team up for re-election: cultural scientist Karin Harrasser, vice-rector for research, artist Brigitte Vasicek, vice-rector for art and teaching, and Erik Aigner, vice-rector for finance and resources, want to remain available for four more years.

Before she took over the management of the art university, Brigitte Hütter was vice rector at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg and at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. Hütter also held leading positions at the University of Salzburg and the University of Applied Sciences in Upper Austria. As art university rector, she recently campaigned for Ukrainian refugees and initiated an aid campaign.
