One of the co-founders of the soul, funk and disco band Kool & The Gang, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, is dead. He died on Saturday at the age of 70 in the US state of New Jersey, according to his band on the online Network Facebook announced. The “saxophonist, flautist, drummer” and “master of ceremonies at concerts” had his last appearance with the band on July 4th in Los Angeles.
Kool & The Gang celebrated their greatest successes in the seventies and eighties. The band’s world hits include “Celebration”, “Jungle Boogie”, “Get down on it” and “Ladies’ Night”. The band was founded in 1964 by Ronald Bell, his brother Robert, Dennis Thomas and four other friends. Ronald Bell had already died last September.
