Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s defamation trial has ended in Depp’s favour. Now some celebrities spoke up.
The verdict in the trial of Johnny Depp (58) and Amber Heard (36) has fallen – in favor of Depp. After six long weeks of trial, the jury found Heard guilty of defamation. Shortly after the verdict was announced, the two spoke up via Instagram. And other stars have now commented on the verdict on social media.
“Pretty Little Liars” star Ashley Benson (32) posts a photo of Johnny Depp. She briefly commented on her post with a “JAAAAA” and several black hearts. Hollywood colleague Emma Roberts (31) clicked “Like”. In addition, Benson shared Depp’s Instagram statement in her story.
Sharon Osbourne: ‘I wanted Johnny to win’
Sharon Osbourne (69) was also happy about the victory of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” actor. However, she had not expected this verdict. “Wow, I didn’t expect that. I mean, I wanted Johnny to win, but I didn’t think he was going to make it,” Ozzy Osbourne’s (73) wife from the “TalkTV” show with Piers Morgan ( 57).
Celebrities also left their support for the 58-year-old. Naomi Campbell (52) sent red heart emojis to Depp in the comments, as did TikTok star Khaby Lame (22). Top model Bella Hadid (25) gave the post a like.
Will Amy Schumer side with Amber Heard?
However, not everyone sided with Depp. Actress Amy Schumer (41) shared shortly after the verdict of women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem (88): “Any woman who chooses to behave like a full human should be warned that the armies of the status quo treat her as a human being ridiculous joke. She’s going to need her sisters.” While Schumer didn’t mention Heard in her post, some in the comments section suggested she was alluding to the sentencing.
Amber Heard published an article in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she reported being a victim of domestic violence. She didn’t mention Johnny Depp’s name at the time. However, the actor is suing his ex-wife for $50 million in damages. The jury ruled that the actress should pay Depp a total of $15 million in damages.
