Eleven-year-old British twins are the youngest and a 104-year-old dance teacher the oldest to receive royal honors on Queen Elizabeth II’s jubilee.
Elena and Ruben Evans-Guillen, from Warrington in north-west England, will each receive a British Empire Medal (BEM) in recognition of their years of fundraising, in recognition of service to the local community, the palace said late Wednesday night. You had already taken part in a charity run at the age of six. Since then, the siblings have been involved in numerous other sports activities such as kayaking and rock climbing for charitable causes. They most recently raised £50,000 (€58,700) for the National Health Service (NHS).
Senior citizen Angela Redgrave from the southwest English city of Bristol is also being honored with the BEM for her life’s work. She only started dancing comparatively late, at the age of ten. In 1970 she took over the management of a dance school, where she taught thousands. During the Corona lockdowns, Redgrave organized online classes together with her daughter Felicity, who has now taken over the school.
Traditionally, the Queen honors dozens of prominent and less well-known people who have rendered services to the community and the state in the “Queen’s Birthday Honours” in honor of her birthday. The writer Sir Salman Rushdie will be able to bear a special title in the future: he will be appointed Companion of Honour. This order includes a maximum of 65 personalities who have rendered special services, for example in literature, science or music.
