Charlie Watts (1941-2021), drummer for the Rolling Stones, died last August at the age of 80. The other band members remembered the musician on his birthday, which he would have celebrated on June 2nd.
“Happy birthday Charlie. We miss you,” wrote singer Mick Jagger (78). Keith Richards (78) shared a funny snap and commented: “Happy birthday Charlie Watts!! Miss you!” Ronnie Wood (75) thought of his “dear Charlie”, who he also misses.
Tour start in Madrid
The start of the Rolling Stones’ European tour as part of the band’s 60th anniversary was also emotional. On Wednesday, the group performed in Madrid and played video clips featuring Watts on big screens. According to media reports, Jagger said it was the first European tour without him and the band misses him very much. The group also got to celebrate the birthday of Wood, who turned 75 on June 1st.
