The corona pandemic has shown that nurses are much more than just systemically important. It was they who were up close, who spent 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at the bedside of seriously ill people – with masks, gloves, surgical suits and protective visors. Many lives were saved in this way. Exactly 14,218 nurses fought the Corona crisis in Upper Austria’s hospitals. The OÖ Nachrichten also wanted to say thank you for this tireless commitment and on December 1st of the previous year they started the “Tombola of Appreciation”.

The response that came in the days that followed was overwhelming. Companies, celebrities and simple private individuals have one wish in common: “We would like to support this campaign.” Over 6,000 nurses ended up entering the pre-Christmas draw, with over 2,000 winners.
Hard times
So that the stressed hospital employees don’t lose their sense of humor in difficult times, the Oberbank hired cabaret artist Klaus Eckel in December last year, who performed yesterday at the Oberbank Donau-Forum.
