Stranger Things creators answer what happened to Will’s birthday
A week after the release of the episodes, The Duffer Brothers, creators and main writers of Stranger Things, had an answer. It was in an interview with the media Variety when asked if all his friends and family had forgotten the date or if it was an accident.
“The honest answer is that just like the characters on the show, we too forgot Will’s birthday,” revealed matt duffer and said that now they are debating whether change the date of the birthday or just leave it as a sad fact in the plot. Even his brother Ross commented that they could do something like George Lucas did with the special editions of the trilogy of starwars: “We are thinking about that the birthday happens to be May 22why could we replace one month with another when Winona (Ryder, actress who plays Joyce, Will’s mother) it says in the second season.”
“It was a mistake and we are sorry. We apologize to the fans”added the brothers and commented on the production difficulties that lead to these types of errors: “Six years ago we wrote that date! George R.R. Martin (author of the books on which Game of Thrones was based) and Stephen King have a person who maintains consistency between everything they write. We don’t have that and we need it.”
