Kevin Spacey: New York court allows lawsuit

It’s getting serious for Hollywood star Kevin Spacey: A court in New York allows a lawsuit for sexual harassment.

Kevin Spacey (62) must appear in court on allegations of sexual harassment. A New York judge on Monday denied the actor’s motion to dismiss Anthony Rapp’s (50) lawsuit.

The stage actor Rapp is suing for damages and pain and suffering. According to the court in New York, he can assert claims for bodily harm and intentional infliction of mental distress. Spacey “categorically” denies the allegations, according to his attorney.

The allegations against Kevin Spacey started with Anthony Rapp

Anthony Rapp became the first man to accuse Kevin Spacey of sexual harassment as part of #MeToo in October 2017. Spacey allegedly inappropriately approached Rapp at a party at his home in 1986. The alleged victim was 14 years old at the time, the accused 28 years old. Spacey apologized via Twitter if he acted improperly while intoxicated. He couldn’t remember anything anymore. Other men later came forward to accuse Spacey of sexual harassment or even abuse.

Rapp could also be the first man to bring Spacey to justice in the US. An alleged victim had previously died of cancer, another withdrew his lawsuit. Other alleged crimes are time-barred.

Lawsuits are also threatened in Great Britain

Kevin Spacey is also being sued in the UK. A British law enforcement agency has filed a criminal complaint against the American for sexual assault in four cases. Spacey is said to have molested several men while he was manager of London’s Old Vic theatre. In order for the two-time Oscar winner to stand trial in Great Britain, he would have to be extradited from the USA. However, Spacey announced that he would go to the UK voluntarily to prove his innocence.
