In Pitt’s latest court filing against Jolie for the sale of Miraval, the actor claims that Jolie intentionally “tried to harm him” by selling his interest in the wine company. Pitt says they agreed never to sell their respective interests in the family business without each other’s consent.
Pitt’s legal team writes in the documents, filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court and replicated by People, that Miraval became his “passion” project that grew “into a multi-billion dollar global business and one of the most respected rosé producers in the world” came through his work. The actor accuses Jolie of not contributing “in anything to the success of Miraval.”
In the filing, Pitt’s attorneys say Jolie planned to sell her stake in October to tenute of the worldwhich is “bent on taking control of Miraval” and is “indirectly owned and controlled by yuri sheflerthe Russian billionaire who controls the Stoli Group,
“Jolie pursued and then consummated the alleged sale in secret, deliberately keeping Pitt in the dark and knowingly violating Pitt’s contractual rights,” the Trojan actor’s team’s filing read.
Pitt’s lawsuit alleges that Jolie’s business, Nouvel, owed her company Mondo Bongo the right of first refusal, and the sale infringed that right. Jolie, who filed for divorce in 2016, received prior approval to sell her share of her estate in September.
Pitt’s team says Shefler launched a hostile takeover of Miraval and is seeking “confidential and proprietary information for the benefit of its competitor company.” The documents accuse Shefler of “ruthless business tactics and dubious professional associations,” which in turn “endangers the reputation of the brand Pitt so carefully built.” They add: “Jolie has tried to force Pitt to associate with a stranger, and worse yet, a stranger with poisonous associations and intentions.”
