The British nature filmmaker David Attenborough has been awarded another knighthood.
The 96-year-old received the so-called Grand Cross Knightly Order of Saint Michael and Saint George from heir to the throne Prince Charles (73) on Wednesday – one of the highest honors.
The documentary filmmaker is thus honored for his services to television, but also for the preservation of nature and biodiversity. In 1985 Attenborough was knighted for the first time by Queen Elizabeth II.
The Briton, who has become internationally known for his innovative and detailed documentaries, is considered an icon in Great Britain. He is also a member of the jury for the so-called Earthshot Prize – an award created by Prince William to draw attention to innovative solutions to environmental problems.
