Elon Musk doesn’t just have time for space travel and electric cars. The tech billionaire also has a heart for the visual arts.
Prominent spontaneous visit to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence: Tesla boss Elon Musk and his family visited the famous art collection in Tuscany.
The tech billionaire was accompanied by Mayor Dario Nardella, as the Uffizi announced. The tour with the German museum director Eike Schmidt lasted about an hour and a half.
Should Musk one day build a space station on Mars, one would be happy if he brought some works from there for the Uffizi, Schmidt said as a joke. Musk (50) is not only the founder of the electric car manufacturer Tesla and co-founder of the payment service PayPal, but also the founder of the space company SpaceX.
The Uffizi Gallery was built in the 16th century to house offices and ministries. Even then, the Galleria degli Uffizi housed works of art. The most famous artists exhibited there today include Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Caravaggio.
