The album “18” will be released on July 15th. The two cover classics by the Beach Boys, Marvin Gaye, John Lennon and the Velvet Underground, among others. Depp wrote two new songs: “This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr” and “Sad Motherfuckin’ Parade”.
Depp and Beck met in 2016 and became friends over their love of “cars and guitars.” “When Johnny and I started making music together, it really sparked our youthful spirit and creativity,” said 77-year-old Beck. “We joked that we felt like we were 18 again, so that became the title of the album.” Depp, who is also currently accompanying Beck on a European tour, said it was “an incredible honor to play and write music with Jeff, one of the greatest people I can now call my brother”. On July 13, the prominent duo will be guests at the “Tollwood” festival in Munich.
“18” will initially be released on CD and in digital form, with a black vinyl version of the album to follow on September 30th.
