He was seen in his long career and numerous well-known films and series. Philip Baker Hall (1931-2022) is now dead. The actor passed away on June 12 at the age of 90. His neighbor, the journalist Sam Farmer, also confirmed Hall’s family to the US media about the death of the actor.
Farmer writes about a photo of Hall that the actor was one of the “smartest, most talented and kindest people”. Baker fell asleep peacefully that night surrounded by “loved ones”.
Born in 1931 in Toledo, Ohio, Philip Baker Hall graduated from the University of Toledo and served in the United States Army. He also used to work as an English teacher before discovering his passion for acting at the age of 30 and taking part in various Off-Broadway productions.
From Bruce Almighty to Modern Family
Smaller roles followed in the 1980s until he landed an important film role as Richard Nixon in Robert Altman’s “Secret Honor” in 1984. Hall also made a name for himself with a leading role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film “Magnolia” (1999).
He later appeared alongside Jim Carrey (60) in “The Truman Show” (1998), “Bruce Almighty” (2003) and “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” (2011). He starred alongside Matt Damon (51) in “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (1999). Hall was also seen alongside Ben Affleck (49) in “Argo” (2012). In addition, Hall appeared in well-known series, such as “Seinfeld” (1991-1998), “Monk” (2004) and “Modern Family” (2011-2012).
Hall is survived by his second wife (married since 1981) and four daughters.
