The trial kept the world public in suspense for weeks, and in the end there was a resounding defeat: the jury found Amber Heard guilty of slandering her ex-husband Johnny Depp. In a guest post for the Washington Post, the actress described herself as a victim of domestic violence – without naming Depp.

In the eyes of the jury, Heard harmed the actor and she was ordered to pay her ex-husband $10.35 million as a result. In return, Depp has to pay his ex-wife $2 million.
Regardless of this, Amber Heard has now followed up in an interview with the American journalist Savannah Guthrie on the US broadcaster NBC. The conversation was recorded last Thursday and will be broadcast in parts on June 14 and 15 on the American news program “Today”. The full interview will air June 17 on Dateline NBC.
The statements have it all: Despite her bitter defeat in court, Heard has renewed her allegations against the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star. When Guthrie asked if Depp lied about never hitting her, the 36-year-old replied yes on camera. And added that she will stand by every word of her statement until her death.

The actress could have gotten herself into new trouble with this – because she was sentenced to pay millions for exactly this allegation.
The conversation had other notable moments. Depp’s legal representative Camille Vasquez has described her as “the advocate for the man who convinced the world he had scissors for fingers” – a reference to Depp’s role in the 1990 film Edward Scissorhands.
As an actress, can you really accuse another actor of having performed a role convincingly? If Johnny Depp’s lawyers take a closer look at the interview, that should be the least of their problems.
