Amber Heard answers questions in an interview following the court ruling in favor of her ex-husband Johnny Depp. She admits that she probably didn’t make a good impression on the jury as a victim.
Actress Amber Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp faced each other in court for seven weeks. In the defamation trial, seven jurors ruled against Heard. She lost the case and has to pay $8.35 million to her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. But Amber Heard feels unfairly treated and has now conducted a television interview with journalist Savannah Guthrie for the TV show “NBC Today”.
In the interview, she again raises serious allegations against Johnny Depp. Heard maintains that he has beaten her in the past. But the Aquaman actress says she still loves her ex-husband. She accuses Depp of doing whatever it takes to continue “humiliating her around the world.”
She asked the jury during the trial to “perceive her as a person,” not just as the well-known actress. Heard tried to persuade the jury to believe her version of things, but she also said in the interview, “I’m not a good victim. I get it. I’m not a perfect victim.”
Amber Heard is afraid of being silenced
Asked by Guthrie if she feels like she’s about to be sued again for defamation, the actress added, “I’m afraid that no matter what I do, no matter what I say or how I say it, every step I take do provides another opportunity to finally shut me up, which I believe is the point of a libel suit.” The NBC journalist also asked if the actress felt nervous when speaking to her and if she was careful about what she was saying. The 36-year-old replied: “Of course. I took it for granted that it was my right to speak.”
In addition to the jury, there was also a range of social media posts against Amber Heard during the trial, which often ridiculed her statements in court. Often triggered by the strong fan base of Johnny Depp.
