In an interview with US journalist Savannah Guthrie, Amber Heard renewed her allegations of violence against ex-husband Johnny Depp. As evidence, she submitted notes from a doctor to whom she reported the alleged abuse.
Amber Heard’s first interview, which the actress gave to US journalist Savannah Guthrie from NBC, is eagerly awaited. Several excerpts of the conversation were shown during the week, in which Heard renewed the allegations of violence against her ex-husband Johnny Depp. He beat her and lied in court, Heard claimed. The former couple faced each other in a defamation lawsuit for around seven weeks, which Heard ended up losing.
Now the , part of the NBC network, has released a 20-minute excerpt from the interview with Heard, which again addresses the allegations of violence. “There’s a binder with years of notes going back to 2011, from the beginning of my relationship, made by my doctor to whom I reported the abuse,” Heard said. She gave the folder to the broadcaster NBC for inspection. The video shows partially blackened, handwritten notes and quotes individual incidents.
Amber Heard couldn’t use the folder as evidence in court
In 2012, Johnny Depp reportedly “hit and shoved to the ground” Amber Heard. Eight months later he “tore her nightgown and threw her on the bed”, in 2013 he is said to have “thrown her against a wall and threatened to kill her”. Depp and Heard met while filming The Rum Diary in 2009 and became a couple in 2011 and married in 2015. Just a year later, Heard filed for divorce after allegations of violence.
The folder and the notes from her doctor would prove what had really happened over the years, Heard asserted. At the trial, her attorneys failed to produce said folder as credible evidence.
Commenting on Amber Heard’s renewed allegations, a spokesperson for Johnny Depp said the actor “just wanted to move forward after winning the case”. “It is unfortunate that while Johnny wants to get on with his life, the defendant and her team are once again busy repeating things (…) that have already been decided by the court and there is a verdict that is unanimous and unequivocal was ruled in Johnny’s favor by the jury,” the statement said.
The full interview with Amber Heard will air Friday night local time on US TV on NBC’s Dateline.
