One of the jurors who returned the verdict in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial spoke anonymously on US TV. The 36-year-old in particular does not come off well in his descriptions.
For about seven weeks, actress Amber Heard and her ex-husband Johnny Depp faced each other in a court case in which they had sued each other for defamation. In the end, seven jurors – five men and two women – ruled in favor of the 59-year-old. One of the men has now spoken anonymously on US TV about his experiences during the trial. Amber Heard in particular does not come off well in his descriptions.
“The crying, her expression, the whole time she was staring at the jury. We all felt very uncomfortable. She answered a question and cried, and two seconds later she went freezing cold. Some of us used the expression ‘crocodile tears’,” he was quoted in the US program “Good Morning America”. Amber Heard got the jury to keep the names of the jury who passed the verdict secret for a year. Her identity will not be made public until then.
Amber Heard got caught up in contradictions in court
The anonymous juror went on to say that he and his fellow jurors found Johnny Depp to be more credible in court. “He just seemed a little more real in terms of how he responded to questions. His emotional state was very stable throughout.” With Heard, on the other hand, there were contradictions. The jury felt that much of her story was not true.
But the man also said: “Ultimately, I think it’s true that they both abused each other. There isn’t one who is right and the other is wrong. But for the level of their claims, there were simply none or insufficient Proofs.” Heard denied that the jury was swayed by social media opinion. He and his fellow jurors only followed the evidence when it came to reaching their verdict.
Heard called the fact that the actress had to admit in court that she had not donated all of the $7 million from her divorce with Johnny Depp as “a fiasco” for Heard. The 36-year-old had claimed this at several public appearances. In cross-examination with Depp’s lawyer Camille Vasquez, Heard then got caught up in contradictions. For the jury, it was probably just a moment that influenced their verdict.
