A princess visits a princess – and it’s official: what’s planned for Friday evening in Oslo.
Dutch Princess Amalia (18) makes her first official trip as Crown Princess. The eldest daughter of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima attends the celebration of Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s 18th birthday in Oslo with her parents.
For Amalia, Friday night’s gala dinner is also a tiara debut. Because for the first time she will wear this headdress richly decorated with precious stones. And she has been looking forward to that for a long time, as she said in a book for her 18th birthday last year. Even as a child, she often played with her mother’s jewels and tried on a tiara. She was a big fan, she admitted to the book author. ‘Show me a tiara and I’ll know where it came from. I can see all the tiaras of Europe.”
Amalia made her first official appearance as Crown Princess in December, the day after her 18th birthday. She made her first speech to the State Council, the government’s highest advisory body. The heir to the throne automatically belongs to this as soon as he or she is of legal age. Amalia will not take on many official tasks for the time being. After the summer she begins her studies in Amsterdam.
