It doesn’t always have to be currywurst: comic artist Ralph Ruthe presents visitors to the Messe Berlin vaccination center with original drawings.
Ralph Ruthe is known for his comics with rabbits, fish or a beaver with a tree from numerous books, magazines and newspapers. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the 49-year-old has been campaigning for vaccinations against the corona virus.
On Friday, the draftsman combined the two: Ruthe gave each freshly vaccinated person an original drawing in the vaccination center at Messe Berlin.
Interested parties could ask for the motif, Ruthe drew fish or cats. If there was a big crowd, he could create a drawing in 30 seconds, said Ruthe.
«We are in a situation where many people have not yet been vaccinated. As a result, we will never come to a so-called herd immunity and there will be further variants. So I would like as many as possible to get vaccinated. This is my attempt to get it done, »said Ruthe before the start of the action on the RBB broadcaster radioeins. Regarding bratwurst campaigns as an incentive to vaccinate, Ruthe said: “If a sausage like this manages to get people to vaccinate, then maybe a joke painter can do it too.”
Ruthe dedicated one of his most recent drawings to the climate activist Greta Thunberg. A small fish with plaits typical of Thunberg indicates a hole in the round aquarium. Angry answer from the bigger fish: “First you concentrate on your math homework!”
