When Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan were still members of the British royal family, allegations of bullying were raised. Meghan is said to have not treated the staff well, and an investigation was then initiated, the result of which is now to be concealed.
Last year, the Queen ordered an investigation by an independent law firm at her own expense after the Duchess of Sussex was accused of harassing palace staff. As a result, Elizabeth II wanted to ensure that the working conditions of the employees lived up to their expectations. But the British news portal “The Times” now claims that the investigation has long since been completed, but that the results are deliberately being ignored and will never be published.
A royal source reportedly told the newspaper that “policies and procedures in human resources have improved”. Accordingly, the results should be kept under lock and key in order to protect the employees affected at the time. According to “The Times”, another reason could be that the relationship between the British royal family and the Sussexes who have emigrated should not be further strained. However, some employees interviewed were deeply disappointed by the public silence about the results, for them it felt as if the documents were being “buried” on purpose.
Palace’s new personnel policy to be released
Only the conclusion, i.e. the consequences of the personnel policy derived from the study, are to be recorded in the annual “Sovereign Grant Report” this month. The report lists the use of tax money to the royal family to fund public duties, including royal staff.
The palace launched an investigation into the incidents after two employees claimed they had been bullied by Duchess Meghan. Another former employee said he was “humiliated” and that it was “emotional cruelty and manipulation” Duchess Meghan allegedly engaged in. The Duchess denied everything at the time, her lawyers describing the allegations as a “calculated smear campaign”. The palace took a stand at the time, saying it would “not tolerate bullying or harassment” and that it was “very concerned about the allegations”.
Harsh allegations against Meghan: She is said to have “broken” employees
After the allegations surfaced, including claims that young staff members were “broken” and made to cry by Meghan’s behavior, a royal source said: “The actual worst incidents have not come to light. There are some harrowing stories to be told.” Another Palace source said: “There’s a lot that could come out that hasn’t been said,” reports The Times.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not invited to take part in the inquiry, but Meghan’s lawyer, Jenny Afia, told the BBC in 2021: “What bullying actually means is the repeated and intentional inappropriate use of power to hurt someone physically or emotionally to hurt. The Duchess of Sussex denies ever doing so. Knowing her, I can’t believe she ever would.”
