The 29-year-old still has a lot planned for this summer. But before he goes on tour, he likes to rest. He recently got married in Mallorca.
Nico Santos is doing it: the singer (“Play With Fire”, “Better”) is currently playing dozens of summer shows, released his new single “Weekend Lover” and married his girlfriend Aileen in Mallorca earlier this month.
“I have a bit of the feeling that I’ve grown up,” said the 29-year-old of the German Press Agency about his wedding. “I had a performance over the weekend where I sat at the piano, looked at my ring and thought, ‘That’s cool.'”
His current single, a funky summer song, is about a perfect weekend – including partying, flirting and sex. That’s okay even as a new husband, Santos joked: “We wrote the song in the deepest lockdown winter. We longed for exuberance, freedom of movement and a summer mood. The text is less related to me.”
He now enjoys quiet weekends, especially during a tour. “Of course I’m happy to lie on the sofa, have breakfast in my favorite cafes and watch a music documentary,” said the songwriter, who was born Nico Wellenbrink in Bremen and grew up in Mallorca.
