During his solidarity visit to Kyiv, Ben Stiller met his “hero”: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
A very special encounter: Hollywood star Ben Stiller (56) is currently taking care of families who have fled Ukraine on behalf of the UN refugee agency. After a stay in Lviv, the actor recently traveled to the capital Kyiv. There he met a person who was a “hero” for Stiller: he met the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyj (44) on the occasion of World Refugee Day.
“It’s a great honor for me, you are my hero,” Stiller told the politician after shaking his hand. The political scientist Charles Lister (35), who was apparently also present, published a clip of it: “I feel that what is happening here is difficult to understand if you were not there.” Seeing the situation and the people personally is “something different,” says Stiller.
The actor gushed about his meeting with the President, and also shared a photo together of the two sitting at a table talking with a serious expression.
Chat about their acting careers
Selenskyj also thanked Stiller for his visit and also emphasized how important it was to continue to explain to people what was happening in Ukraine. The two also exchanged views on their acting careers. Before his election as president, Zelenskyy was known for his role in the TV satire Servant of the People. “You gave up a big acting career,” Stiller said. “Not as big as yours,” Zelenskyj responded humorously.
