According to the results of the report, during the last decades some progress has been observed in terms of gender in the Argentine audiovisual industry, especially in the growth of the percentage participation of women in roles considered team leaders.
The study also indicates that according to data provided by the Union of the Argentine Film Industry (sica) women worked more days than men.
In the feature film sector, for every six days actually worked by a male technician, a woman performs functions for seven days. In 2019, Argentina employed 1,983 technicians in the film industry, reaching numbers equivalent to those of the previous year. With everything, the participation of women in feature films represented a drop of 16.74 percent.
Sica also details that “of the total number of crew heads in cinematographic works, 43 percent are women, and that, during the previous year, this percentage represented 39.1 percent. This percentage grew in all roles, except production manager and props/carpenter”.
Finally, it should be noted that during 2021, 20 percent of the national films released were directed by women, while in 2020 it was 11 percent and in 2019 it was 21 percent.
