Elvis family praises Luhrmann biopic

Lisa Marie told ABC News’ Chris Connelly on “Exclusively Elvis: A Special Edition of 20/20,” a preview of which aired, that seeing the movie was “emotional” for her. She mentioned the “generational trauma, in a good way,” that inspires the film. Keough “broke into tears” five minutes after watching the film, according to Lisa Marie: “It was very intense. As a film it is exceptional,” she said. “Exclusively Elvis: A Special Edition of 20/20” features Connelly sitting with Priscilla, Lisa Marie and Keough at Graceland, Elvis’ iconic mansion, now a museum and shrine for millions who visit each year. The mansion, filled with Elvis memorabilia, is located in Memphis, Tennessee.

Connelly, in the same special, also interviewed Luhrmann, Butler, Hanks and other members of the “Elvis” cast to discuss how they brought the story of the myth to the big screen. The film hits theaters on June 24.

“Exclusively Elvis: A Special Edition of 20/20” will stream online on Hulu starting today. The first comments from local media highlight that “Elvis” is a film that “doesn’t slow down for a single second.” Austin Butler performs 70% of the film’s themes. “If Rami Malek did a great job in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, as Freddie Mercury, and Taron Egerton in ‘Rocketman’, as Elton John, Butler’s is on another level reaching Presley’s hypnotic frenzy on stage and also showing his exhaustion and his wild babbling in his final stage”, highlighted an analysis of the film. Luhrmann directed films like “The Great Gatsby”, “Romeo and Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge”.
