Travis Barker flies again – 13 years after the plane crash

It wasn’t until May that Blink 182 drummer told Travis Barker that he wanted to fly again after being one of two survivors of a plane crash in 2008. Now Barker has overcome his fear of flying thanks to his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian.

“A million things could happen to me. I could die skateboarding, in a car accident, I could be shot. […] So why should I still be afraid of airplanes? “Travis Barker, musician and former drummer for the US band Blink-182, suffered from a fear of flying for a long time. Even before, but especially after, a tragic plane crash in 2008, in which four of the six passengers died. Travis Barker survived and resolved: I’ll fly again and tell my kids about it, he reported in an interview with Men’s Health. That premiere is now behind him. He was supported by his girlfriend Kourtney Kardashian as well their mother Kris Jenner with partner Corey Gamble.

The couple flew to Mexico on vacation together

The Daily Mail reported that Barker and Kardashian were an hour late. Before they boarded the plane, the two are said to have hugged and then walked up the stairs holding hands. This moral support from girlfriend and allegedly fiancé Kourtney Kardashian seems to have helped him overcome the immense hurdle of boarding a plane again.

In September 2008, Travis Barker and colleague and friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein had an accident on a private plane. The tires burst during take-off. The two pilots lost control of the plane, which was thrown over the runway and the embankment, where it went up in flames. Four of the six passengers died, only Barker and DJ AM escaped through the emergency exit. He also owes his life to the DJ who extinguished the kerosene-covered and burning Barker with his own clothes. After months in hospital and even longer physical therapy, Barker learned to walk and play the drums again, and now has his own business. Particularly tragic: DJ AM died of an overdose just a year after the crash.

Flying again was a kind of therapy for him

In an interview with “Men’s Health” in May, he talked about his goal of finally getting on a plane again – to be able to close this chapter of his life and free his children from their trauma: “If I can do it and the angels over I would like to come back and help me on my journey and protect myself [ihnen] say, ‘Hey, I just flew here and then back home. And everything went well. ‘ I have to tell them because I almost left them. “That day has finally come.
