A jury found Tuesday that Cosby molested the 64-year-old plaintiff at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles when she was 16. The jury awarded the plaintiff around 475,000 euros.
Cosby did not appear at the trial himself, but had his defense attorney dismiss the allegations. The woman made the allegations back in 2014. There was no criminal prosecution because the incident was already statute-barred. Because the woman was a minor at the time, she was still able to take civil action against Cosby with claims for damages.
More than 60 women had accused the actor of sexual assault. In 2018 he was sentenced to several years in prison for sexual assault. Cosby had been in prison for around three years when the Pennsylvania highest court overturned the verdict in June 2021 because of a procedural error. Since then, Cosby has been at large.
