A jury found Bill Cosby guilty of sexual abuse. The plaintiff was awarded $500,000. The entertainer does not want to pay.
After a jury found him guilty of sexual abuse in a civil lawsuit, US comedian and actor Bill Cosby (84) wants to take action against the verdict.
“Mr. Cosby and his team have always steadfastly maintained his innocence,” the actor’s management said in a statement, quoted by several US media. The verdict will be appealed and the plaintiff will see no money.
A jury of eight women and four men found Tuesday that Cosby molested the 64-year-old plaintiff at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles when she was 16. Cosby did not appear at the civil trial, which opened in Los Angeles in early June, but had his defense attorneys dismiss the allegations. The jury awarded the plaintiff $500,000.
