The Academy Award-nominated actor spoke with The Hollywood Reporter that his decision to return to the franchise was due to several reasons.

In the 1999 film, Qui-Gon was Obi-Wan’s master, and through a series of events, the Jedi duo found Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) on Tatooine. Not long after helping secure Anakin’s freedom, Qui-Gon was killed during a lightsaber duel with Darth Maul (Ray Park).
Neeson has revealed in years past that he was always a fan of the film and shrugged off initial criticism, which has since dwindled with a generation of fans loving The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Dead. the Sith.
