Ernst Jacobi was known as a theater and film actor and voice actor. He has now passed away at the age of 88.

Ernst Jacobi (1933-2022) is dead. The German actor died at the age of 88. This was confirmed by his management of the German Press Agency. Jacobi fell asleep peacefully.

Jacobi was born in Berlin in 1933 and found acting at an early age, taking on his first speaking roles at RIAS when he was a teenager. First he devoted himself to his Abitur and then to training as an actor. Numerous positions at the theater followed, Jacobi played at the Vienna Burgtheater and at the Munich Kammerspiele.

Jacobi determined in a “crime scene” case

He was already seen on television in the 1950s and then came to the movies. In 1972, Jacobi was commissioner Pfluger in the “crime scene”, but he was only supposed to investigate in one case. The actor was particularly well known as Gauleiter Löbsack from Volker Schlöndorff’s (83) film adaptation of Günter Grass’ (1927-2015) “The Tin Drum”.

In addition, Jacobi appeared several times in the crime series “Derrick” and in the ARD telenovela “Rote Rosen”. He was also heard in audio books and radio plays and worked as a voice actor. In the German version of the sci-fi adventure “Back to the Future” in the 1980s, he lent his voice to Christopher Lloyd (83), who plays Doc Brown.
