Katie Price avoided jail time However, the ex-model has to do community service. Her ex-husband is not happy with the verdict.
Because Katie Price insulted her ex-husband’s new partner, the British ex-model has to do 150 hours of social work. The court in the southern English city of Lewes saw a possible prison sentence on Friday.
The 44-year-old had previously pleaded guilty to disregarding a ban on contact with the insulting message. Price was given an additional 20 hours of community service for failing to comply with the terms of a suspended driving ban. She also has to pay £1,500 (€1,750) in court costs.
Price acted out of anger, Justice Stephen Mooney said. “The words you used were extremely offensive and inflammatory, so this is not a minor breach (of the no-contact order).”
The ex-model was ordered by a court three years ago not to contact her ex-husband’s new partner. The insults had “devastating consequences” for her mental state, said the new partner. She felt threatened and intimidated.
Price’s attorney, Nicholas Hamblin, said his client “overreacted when she felt criticized” and also had mental health issues. The ex-husband and his partner criticized the verdict as too mild. A prison sentence would have taken the seriousness of the offense more into account and sent a clear signal to Price, the couple said.
