The political history of Chile is not a foreign subject to the filmmaker, who has already introduced the theme in films such as “post-mortem” (2010) and “Nope” (2012), although this time he leaned towards a dark comedy tone and not a traditional drama to delve into the characters and an analysis of how both contemporary Chilean and global society were built.

The leading role will be played by Jaime Vadell (“Three sad tigers”), who will play a Pinochet who, after more than two centuries in this world that finds him as an aged vampire, decides to die once and for all due to the ailments he suffers as a result of his dishonor and their family conflicts.

Vadell will be accompanied in the cast by Gloria Munchmeyer (“The moon in the mirror”), Paula Luschinger (“The pack”) and Alfredo Castro (“Tony Manero”), a regular on Larraín’s tapes.

Speaking to the international press, the director assured that he and his team are “very happy” with the project because “Netflix is ​​a space in which filmmakers that I greatly admire made very valuable films.”

“Through black comedy we want to observe, understand and analyze the events that have occurred in Chile and in the world during the last 50 years. We have total confidence that we will do a good job and that this demanding but very inspiring shoot will undoubtedly be an adventure.” meaning,” he added.

For his part, the vice president of content for Netflix Latin America, Francis Ramosassured: “We can finally work with Pablo as a director. Participating in his next film is truly an honor for us and will surely bring us enormous satisfaction.”

“Pablo is one of the most interesting and significant voices in Latin American cinema of the last two decades, his look at Chile and the region is essential to understand our continent. I have no doubt that ‘El Conde’ will continue the path that Pablo already marked”, concluded.

“Count” It will be the tenth feature film in Larraín’s career, which began in 2006 with “Drain” and that last year delivered “Spencer”with a dreamlike and intimate look at the ill-fated Lady Di during the collapse of her family relationship with British royalty and an acclaimed lead performance by the American Kristen Stewart.
