EU commission vice warns UEFA to be careful about Corona

The European Football Association must carefully consider a decision on a European Championship semi-final and a European Championship final in a crowded stadium in Wembley, he said on Monday. He recalled that Britain was restricting the travel options of its citizens and that there was a need for a “certain symmetry” and proportionality in these decisions.

From the European Championship semi-finals (July 6th and 7th), 60,000 spectators are allowed in Wembley Stadium. In the group stage and the first round of 16, the number was limited to 21,500, for the match between England and Germany on Tuesday 45,000 fans are allowed. Because the corona numbers recently rose again in Great Britain due to the delta variant, the step is controversial. Normally around 90,000 people can watch games in the stadium.
