The British Royal was once in action in Afghanistan. Now he is promoting the military and the Invictus community to reach out and support one another.
Prince Harry (36), who served as a Royal in the British Army and was deployed twice in Afghanistan, turned to veterans after the Taliban actually took power in Afghanistan.
In a message published Monday by the Invictus Games Foundation, Harry called on the Invictus community and military to reach out and support one another.
In the “Invictus Games” initiated by Harry, war-disabled soldiers compete in Paralympic competitions. The joint statement with Dominic Reid, chairman of the Invictus Foundation, points out that many participants had served in the games in Afghanistan and that a “Team Afghanistan” also participated in the competitions.
The next games are to take place in The Hague next year.
For Harry, the “Invictus Games” are an affair of the heart. His own mission in Afghanistan had left a deep mark on him. Although he had to give up his position in the military when he left the inner circle of the royal family last year, he remained connected to the “Invictus Games”. Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan, live in California with their two young children.
