The 79-year-old starred alongside Kris Kristofferson in the 1976 film of the same name. The 1976 film received nominations in only minor categories. “It was a great success, so I can’t argue with success. But I care more about originality than success,” said Streisand.

The original of “A Star Is Born” was released in 1937 with Janet Gaynor and Fredric March in the leading roles; the action took place in Hollywood. 1954 followed a new edition with Judy Garland. The 1976 Streisand and Kristofferson film took the action to the music industry.
