Today and tomorrow, students of the University of Art and Design Linz present their diverse works of the past two semesters in a “tour” through the studios and workshops at seven locations. “It’s a showcase that gives insights into the work processes in the places where you study,” says Gilbert Bretterbauer, head of the Textile/Art & Design course. The themes are as different as their works, whether they examine the water of the Danube or trace their sense of time.
Four people, four days together
Four students are researching the latter: They spent four days and nights together timelessly in one room, which, among other things, brought them a realization: “Without time, we have time.” A video work transforms the movements of a folk dance group into dancing color patterns. One work challenges the fashion hype in ceramic Prada wearable bags.
Playful and socially critical, the works reveal the entire range of creative work at the University of Art and Design Linz, although some things only become apparent to the viewer at second glance, it is worth taking a moment to pause or exchange ideas with the students.
