Marvel: Taron Egerton is hoping to be the Wolverine of the MCU

“I don’t think it’s wrong to say that,” Egerton, 32, told the publication with a laugh about his interest in the role. “I would be excited, but also apprehensive, because Hugh is so associated with the role that I wonder if it would be very difficult for someone else to do it.”

The actor went on to say, “But hopefully, if it happens, they will give me a chance.”

Jackman, who co-starred with Egerton in Eddie the Eagle 2016, he last played the member of X Men in Logan of 2017 .

This is not the first time that Egerton has spoken publicly about the character. In 2019, he told British GQ that he was aware of some fans’ hopes for Marvel of being cast as Wolverine.

“That someone thinks I would be good for the role is really flattering”Egerton said at the time. “I love Marvel, but it’s just fan stuff. There is no basis for those rumours.”

At a different point in the recent Times interview, Egerton admitted he had the wrong motives when he took on his roles in the critically-maligned 2018 films, Robin Hood Y Billionaire Boys Club.

“I ignored my instincts on those two jobs because they offered me a lot of money to do them,” the star said. “And that is just fatal. You can’t choose roles like that.”
