“Celebrity Big Brother”: Why does Barbara Kijewski keep her age a secret?

Professional angler Barbara “Babs” Kijewski had to leave “Celebrity Big Brother”. In an interview, she explains why she keeps her age a secret.

For many viewers, but also residents of “Celebrity Big Brother”, professional angler Barbara “Babs” Kijewski was a mystery. She’s making a secret of her age. On Wednesday (August 18), Kijewski had to say goodbye to the show. After the first open nomination, the TV audience chose her from space. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, she explains why so little was learned from her private life in the format. In addition, Barbara Kijewski talks about why she was happy to be able to go home in the end and who she is giving the “Celebrity Big Brother” victory to.

How are you today after you move out? Are they sad?

Barbara “Babs” Kijewski: No, I’m doing very well. I am happy that I have regained my freedom and can smell the fresh air again.

“Celebrity Big Brother” was your first reality TV format. How did you prepare? How did you feel about the situation?

Kijewski: You can’t prepare for something like that. I didn’t have any names beforehand, I don’t know anything about celebrities at all. I didn’t know anyone in this house. For me it was just like living under one roof with people I didn’t know. I think that was the problem for some people because I was just so far off the TV that they were offended that I didn’t know them. That was a little strange. But “Celebrity Big Brother” was also a very nice experience because I took something with me and learned something. You take part in something like this in order to surpass yourself and get out of your comfort zone.

What did you learn?

Kijewski: I’ve learned that it’s not healthy to swallow things all the time, that you have to talk and communicate about a lot of things. Communication is the be-all and end-all. I have now figured out where my limits are and learned that I am stronger than I thought.

Would you attend a reality show again?

Kijewski: For now, I have to say that I’m happy to be outside. Now I can fish and run again. I missed the sport very much. I think you’d have to hook some seductive bait to lure me into something like that again.

You couldn’t assess the other candidates correctly. Maybe it was the wrong format for you?

Kijewski: I don’t think it’s the format. I think it’s mainly because very self-centered people live in the house who just weren’t interested in me as a person. I now lump everyone together, of course I also had a few favorite people with me. But when I talked to the self-centered people, there were never any questions. Accordingly, they didn’t really get to know me. You don’t tell a lot about yourself on your own. I’m well brought up, I would never do anything like that.

Over time, your stay got on your nerves, you said when you moved out. What was particularly bad?

Kijewski: The tension in the group has increased over time. They bit each other off, spun intrigues and talked about others behind their backs. This is just not my world. That made me feel happy to go home in the end. The week in the container was particularly bad for me, when I had almost no fresh air, no sun and no contact with my actual life.

The hygienic conditions probably also did the rest.

Kijewski: I actually have to say that the toilet in the space station was relatively clean. We girls always made sure that it was very clean there. We also had disinfectants. On the other hand, things were a little less clean on the Big Planet.

It didn’t work out well between Daniela Büchner and you. What was the problem?

Kijewski: At first I had no problem with Daniela at all. I even found her very personable and wanted to talk to and be close to her. Only now, on the very last day, it turned out that she can’t stand me for dying and that she harbors some antisympathy towards me. I can not understand that. You can’t talk to someone and be nice and the next moment say, “I hate you.” It was a bit strange with some people there. I cannot understand that it was said that I was not authentic and that I was playing the wrong game. With “Celebrity Big Brother” there are completely different people.

Who would you like to see again after the show?

Kijewski: I got to know and love a lot of nice people. I will definitely meet Ina in Berlin. We have built a great friendship, I love them very much. She is a really great person. I get on very well with Marie and of course with Melanie. Uwe is also a really great person – actually they are all. But you get along better with one person and a little less with the other.

Who do you particularly indulge in the “PBB” victory?

Kijewski: Ina! She is such an authentic person. She’s got a lot of money and probably doesn’t need the bonus, but she’s just the most authentic and I have a lot of sympathy for her. So I wish her victory.

You keep your private life a secret, as does your age. Why?

Kijewski: I don’t keep my private life that private, but there were just no questions about it. The residents are so self-centered. I’ve always been very interested and asked a lot of questions, but there were just no questions asked. The most common question I’ve been asked is my age. I still keep it a secret – not because I don’t stand by it. I just think it’s a shame that you always put a woman in a drawer when you ask her about her age. At 30 you have to be married and have children – I’m not in the mood for this stereotype thinking, it’s no longer modern either. I also like to swim against the current.
