Tragic incident in the North Sea: According to a report in the “Bild” newspaper, the Hamburg fashion millionaire Kai Wünsche is said to have gone missing. The 81-year-old is said to have been on the cruise ship MS Europa on the way from Hamburg to Antwerp. The newspaper reported that his husband reported him missing off the Dutch island of Texel.
What exactly could have happened is still unclear. The cruise company Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, to which MS Europa belongs, has, at the request of the stern confirmed an incident without giving the name of the passenger involved. Accordingly, “a passenger was reported missing by his travel companion” on Monday afternoon. All maneuvers based on international safety regulations were immediately started, including the Dutch coast guard who participated in the search.

Probably without success: “Despite the committed efforts of all those involved, the missing person could not be found,” says the statement. In the evening, after consulting the local authorities and the emergency management, the search was broken off. Apparently there are no indications of an accident or third-party negligence. In the meantime, the MS Europa has resumed its voyage. Now the local authorities are investigating.
The entrepreneur became famous for his fashion company, the Wünsche AG, which is named after him and which also includes the well-known fashion brands Joop! and Cinque belonged. In 2002, however, the fashion division went bankrupt. In his last position, Wünsche was the chairman of the Ludwig Wish Foundation, which is committed to promoting understanding and tolerance towards foreign citizens.
